What You Need to Know
Looking for iPhone screen repair in Brisbane? Before you book anywhere, here is what actually matters when getting your iPhone screen replaced.
Not all replacement screens are the same. There are three types available in the repair market. OEM screens sourced from genuine Apple supply chains, quality aftermarket screens that meet OEM specifications, and cheap low grade screens that look acceptable on day one but lose brightness, develop touch sensitivity issues, or show colour shift within weeks.
At iFix Apple we only use screens that meet or exceed the original Apple specification. Your colours look right, your touch response feels exactly as it should, and True Tone and brightness levels are preserved where the technology allows. We will always tell you exactly what type of screen is going into your device before any work begins.
Most iPhone screen repairs are completed within 30 to 45 minutes at our Browns Plains store. No appointment needed. Walk in, we assess the device, give you a fixed quote, and get it done while you wait.

TYPES OF SCREEN DAMAGE SECTION
What Kind of iPhone Screen Damage Do We Fix?
Cracked or Shattered Glass
The most common iPhone fault we see every day. Even a small crack spreads across the full display over time and the broken glass edge becomes a safety risk. We replace the full screen assembly so your display looks and feels brand new.
Unresponsive Touch Screen
If your iPhone is not responding to touch or only registering touch in certain areas, the digitiser layer has likely been damaged. This happens from a hard drop even without visible cracking on the glass. A full screen replacement resolves this.
Black Screen
If your iPhone powers on but the display stays completely black, the screen connection or the display panel itself has failed. You can tell the phone is on if you hear notifications or feel vibrations. We diagnose whether it is a screen fault or a deeper issue before recommending a repair.
LCD Bleeding or Discolouration
Dark patches, purple blotches, or ink-like spreading across the display indicates LCD damage beneath the glass. This is common after a hard impact even when the outer glass appears intact. A screen replacement is required.
Green Lines or Dead Pixels
Vertical green lines or columns of dead pixels on iPhone OLED displays are a known fault pattern on certain models. A screen replacement resolves this in almost all cases.
Flickering Display
Screen flickering is caused by either a damaged display connection or a faulty panel. We identify the cause and replace the screen where required.

Common iPhone Screen Problems
What They Mean and What to Do Right Now
Feel free to ask us any questions. Just send us a message, and we’ll help in no time.
Do not wait. A crack compromises the waterproofing seal on your iPhone, lets moisture and dust into the display assembly, and the crack will spread with normal daily use. Getting it repaired now is cheaper than waiting until the display stops working entirely. In the meantime avoid pressing on the cracked area and put a screen protector over it to slow the spread.
Do not assume the phone is dead. Try a force restart first. On iPhone 8 and later press Volume Up quickly, then Volume Down quickly, then hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo. If the screen comes back the display connection was momentarily disrupted. If it stays black after a force restart the display needs professional assessment.
Try a force restart using the steps above. If the flickering continues after the restart the display panel or its connection has been damaged and needs professional assessment. Flickering that appears only at low brightness on certain apps can sometimes be a software issue. Try updating iOS first before bringing it in.
Force restart the device first. If touch comes back your iPhone may have had a temporary software glitch. If touch remains unresponsive or only works in patches the digitiser has been damaged and a screen replacement is needed.
This is a hardware fault with the OLED panel. It will not resolve itself and will not be fixed by a software update or restart. A screen replacement is the only fix.
White pressure spots on iPhone screens are caused by impact damage to the LCD or OLED layers beneath the glass. They will not disappear and typically spread over time. A screen replacement is required.
There are plenty of DIY screen repair kits available online for iPhones. Here is an honest assessment of when they make sense and when they do not.
DIY kits exist and for very old low value iPhones worth less than $100 the maths sometimes makes sense if you are technically confident.
For any iPhone worth over $300, DIY repair carries risks most people do not consider before buying a kit.
iPhones from the iPhone X onwards use OLED displays. OLED panels crack if bent even slightly during installation. A single mistake during removal or installation can destroy a $200 replacement screen. The repair then costs more than having a professional do it from the start.
Face ID on iPhone X through to iPhone 11 Pro Max is attached to the original screen assembly. Disconnecting it incorrectly during a DIY repair can permanently disable Face ID. Apple charges over $500 to restore Face ID on affected models.
True Tone on current iPhone models requires a programmer to pair the new screen to the device. Without this step True Tone will not work after a DIY replacement. Most DIY kits do not include this.
Water resistance on iPhones from iPhone 7 onwards relies on adhesive seals around the screen. A DIY repair that does not use the correct adhesive and reassembly procedure leaves your iPhone without water resistance even if the screen looks fine.
The honest answer is that for any current iPhone model, professional repair done right costs less in the long run than a DIY repair done wrong.
How We Repair iPhone Screens at iFix Apple
Step 1 — Assessment
We inspect your iPhone before quoting. We check for additional damage beyond the screen such as a bent frame, damaged connectors, or signs of previous repairs that could affect the outcome.
Step 2 — Fixed Quote
We give you a fixed price before starting. No hidden charges, no surprises at collection.
Step 3 — Screen Replacement
We use the correct tools for each iPhone model. OLED models from iPhone X onwards require different handling to older LCD models. We work carefully to preserve Face ID, True Tone, and all existing functionality.
Step 4 — Quality Check
After replacement we test touch response across the full display, brightness levels, Face ID or Touch ID, front camera, and earpiece speaker. We only return the phone when everything passes.
Step 5 — Lifetime Warranty
Every screen repair leaves with a lifetime warranty on parts and labour. If the screen develops a fault related to the repair, bring it back and we fix it at no cost.
Before You Bring Your iPhone In for a Screen Repair
Back up your iPhone
Screen replacements do not affect your data but it is always good practice to back up before any repair. Use iCloud or connect your iPhone to your Mac via Finder, or to your PC via the Apple Devices app.
Face ID preservation
On iPhone X through iPhone 11 Pro Max the Face ID dot projector is attached to the screen assembly. If Face ID is currently working on your device a quality repair by an experienced technician preserves this. We handle the Face ID components with specific care on every repair.
True Tone restoration
True Tone requires a programmer to pair the replacement screen to your iPhone. We do this as part of the repair on supported models so your display adapts to ambient light correctly after the repair.
A cracked screen gets worse quickly
Even a small crack compromises the structural integrity of the display. Moisture enters through the crack, touch sensitivity deteriorates, and the crack spreads with normal use. Repairing sooner is always cheaper than waiting.
